Purpose: A forehead lift, or browlift, will lift the muscles and skin to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyelids and minimize frown lines.
- A browlift can give you a more alert and more youthful appearance.
- Recent advances in plastic surgery have made, the forehead lift a relatively simple procedure with results that last from 5 to 10 years.
- A browlift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as facelift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping (rhinoplasty).
- Minimal scar techniques are utilized often incorporating an endoscope.
Who is a good candidate?
A browlift can minimize the visible signs of drooping eyebrows, "hooding" over the eyes, forehead furrows and frown lines that come with age. If you are bald or have a receding hairline, you may also be a good candidate.
How is the procedure performed?
Small incisions are placed behind the hairline. Repositioning and suspension of forehead tissue create a more youthful appearance by weakening those muscles that affect frown lines. Incisions are then closed with stitches or surgical clips. (See diagram)
